Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on if you are doing the packing yourself or using our packing services it can vary. However, here are some of the most common items you’ll need when moving: Moving Boxes (S,M,L), Dish Kit, Glass kit, Wrapping Paper, Bubble Wrap, Durable moving grade plastic Wrap, furniture Pads, moving blankets, Markers, Packing tape w/ handheld dispenser, Box Tape Dispenser.

You have the option to choose a full or partial packing service, or you can pack yourself. If you’re a DIY type of person, plan to start packing 4-6 weeks before your move date. All your household items will need to be packed and ready when the movers arrive. So, where should you start?

  1. Collectible Items
    Sneakers, Baseball cards, coins, porcelain dolls, etc. mugs, should be packed early. If you have an extensive record collection or still have CDs, these are quick and easy to pack.
  2. Decorations
    Any artwork, souvenirs, holiday decorations, vases, etc. can all be packed well in advance of moving day. You won’t need them between during this time so you can start packing them away. PRO TIP: label your boxes with the designated room or the contents of the box or both!
  3. Books and Magazines
    You can pack up any books and magazines you aren’t reading right now. If you have a large library, you’ll need to start packing it early. Books are heavy, so remember to pack them in small boxes.
  4. Off-Season Clothing
    Pack clothes and shoes that you won’t wear before moving day and pack them into wardrobe boxes or a suitcase. Be sure to keep a few season appropriate outfits to wear incase you’re moving to a region where the climate is different
  5. The Garage
    This is the perfect time to reorganize your garage and get rid of junk. You can consolidate items stored in the garage into the empty boxes or totes for other items you’re going to pack. Items in your garage that have been stored and you’re certain you will not need them before your move can be packed away.

The below services are included in a standard move

  1. Loading
    Prior to loading your furniture and belongings, we take the time to make sure each item is properly packed, listed for inventory and labeled for moving. For upholstered furniture, we use durable stretch wrap to protect against potential damage from dirt and scratches. For other items, we use special packing paper and pads to protect against shifting. Once prepped, your goods are strategically loaded and secured with tie downs on our moving trucks where they will be transported to your final destination.
  2. Transportation
    Safety is the top-priority for On The Grind Trucking when performing any move. All of our moving trucks are updated with the airride suspension system for a smoother ride. Our drivers are licensed and certified to transport household goods. Whether it is a local, state to state or long distance move, we make sure your belongings are transported safely and securely.
  3. Unloading
    After delivery, we take inventory during the unloading process to ensure that each item is accounted for. With your guidance and instruction, our trained movers will carefully place all of your boxes and furniture into each room, and we will provide reassembly services as requested.

Yes, all of our additional services can be purchases a la carte or can be added into your moving package for a one- stop-shop solution

Full Service Packing – our full service option allows you to sit back and relax. Using the latest industry packing methods and high quality materials, our moving experts will pack your entire home for you, load the truck, transport and then unload your goods at your new home. 

Unpacking – If you want to make the transition seamless, we offer unpacking services that will help you to get easily settled into your new place. 

Fragile/Special Item Packing – We offer customized boxes designed to provide optimum protection for your fragile items. Electronics, equipment, as well as large, expensive items that cannot fit into standard moving boxes and packaging.

Assembly/Disassembly – Our household moving packages include the assembly and disassembly of furniture and various household items before and after your move. .

Storage – We offer 90 day storage for household items in-transit and permanent storage for household contents that require additional storage time.

 

The average long distance move takes 2-5 days. That time frame can vary depending on the distance, location, and weather at your final destination
